COLLAB December- The Magazine and Webzine Edition!

Tuesday, December 10

(See Facebook invite here)

At our new home:

501 S. Avenue 17. Unit C, Los Angeles, CA 90031  (map)  (1 block from the Brewery Arts Complex, Dystopian Studios, and Big Art Labs. Plentiful street parking )

So it turns out a lot of Collabers, people who rent my photo studio, and people I network with are involved with the wonderful world of magazines, webzines, and other such media outlets. So why is this important to you Collabers? Because this month we’re having a bunch of them stop by to talk about what role artists, writers, photographers, designers and entrepreneurs have in this always evolving and changing world of media. How to submit your work. How to get publicity for your art and projects. How to get involved. And for those of you thinking of starting up your own magazine, this is a great chance to get a few dos (and a few don’ts.)

Our line-up so far (we will be adding more)

Dale from Fabrik Magazine (Printed and online magazine devoted to art and design in Southern California)

Amelia G and Forrest Black from Blue Blood Magazine (The premiere online magazine devoted to underground. alternative and goth culture, music, and fashion)

Tim from Chopperhead Magazine (A one stop hub for the Outlaw Kulture lifestyle)

Kalie from Afterglow Magazine (Print and online magazine devoted to celebrities, fashion, beauty and music)

Also on tap for Collab December:collab december 2013

Collab QuickPitch:  We give you 3 minutes. You tell us why your latest project is awesome and deserves publicity, free consulting, and cash from Collab. The best project wins all!

The Crowdfund Corner: Looking to crowdfund your absolutely amazing idea? Want to know why IndieGoGOis a bad choice? Midway through your first Kickstarter and have no idea why you are floundering? Or just feeling a bit KickCurious? The Crowdfund corner is the place to get a lot of questions answered by a lot of people that have already been there and done it.

COLLABORATORY:   Have a piece of art you want to work on? Get a critique? Maybe you are a bit stalled on a piece, and want some ideas where to go next? Bring it to Tag’s Collaboratory and show us what you’ve got. We welcome artists of all sorts to bring their work and their tools and make some magic (spray canners, you’re welcome too, but you’ll have to work outside)

The Collaborators Wall:  Maybe you’re a painter looking for a robotocist. Or maybe you’re a designer looking for a photographer. A web designer looking for writers. Or a mad scientist looking for test subjects. If someone matching your needs is there, they’ll find you via the Collaboration Wall! Post up your gigs, opportunities, and partnerships, and watch the networking magic happen.
